Saving Sight offers pre-loaded DMEK tissue preparation for surgeons who prefer to receive grafts that have been prepared
and loaded by the eye bank prior to shipment in coordination with the requesting surgeon or surgical team.
Pre-Loaded Preparation
For surgeons requesting pre-loaded tissue, donor corneal grafts are prepared by trained eye bank technicians according to surgeon specifications provided in advance of shipment.
Preparation includes:
- Pre-punching the donor tissue to the requested graft size
- Staining the graft with trypan blue
- Orientation marking with either an “S” or “F”, as requested.
Available graft sizes

Preparation specifications may be coordinated with the surgeon or surgical team prior to shipment to support surgeon preferences for tissue preparation.
Loading and Transport
Following preparation, the graft is loaded for transport prior to shipment. Tissue preparation and transport are performed by trained eye bank personnel using established internal procedures.
The tissue is shipped under appropriate storage conditions during transport. Saving Sight coordinates delivery with surgical teams to ensure tissue arrives according to the requested schedule.
Surgeon Collaboration
Saving Sight works closely with transplant surgeons and surgical teams to coordinate preparation specifications and delivery timing. Surgical technique and intraoperative use are determined by the surgeon.
Saving Sight may also provide general educational support regarding available tissue service options, order coordination, and general information about DMEK for physicians who are interested in learning more about the technique.
