The Gift of Healing

Your Baby’s Birth Could Transform Someone’s Life

Welcoming your baby is a special moment, and through First Gift’s
birth tissue donation program, you can extend that joy to others.

By donating placenta and umbilical cord tissue, your baby’s birth can help
heal and transform the lives of up to 75 individuals.

Birth Tissue Donation Heals Lives

Your placenta and umbilical cord have unique biological properties that promote regenerative healing—just as they supported your baby’s growth throughout pregnancy! Grafts made from birth tissue are used in:

Eye surgeries to reduce inflammation and promote healing

Chronic non-healing wounds, such as diabetic ulcers

Burn treatments to reduce scarring and aid recovery

This life-changing gift enhances healing and improves outcomes for individuals in need.

What Can I Expect?

Birth tissue donation is a simple, safe, and painless process. Here’s what to expect:

Before Delivery

A First Gift team member will work with you to explain the process. You’ll provide informed consent and complete a brief medical history questionnaire.

During Delivery

Donation takes place after delivery. The placenta and umbilical cord, which are usually discarded, will be collected for processing. First Gift’s team does not need to be present during your delivery.

After Donation

Your donation will be carefully processed into grafts used to heal others. We will keep you informed about the impact of your generous gift.

Birth tissue donation will not interfere with other plans you may have, such as cord blood banking or placenta encapsulation.
